The Gamescom build of CONTROL Resonant showed the Combat Abilities Ignite and Push, plus the Perfect Dodge Talent. A later hands-off presentation also showed a one-per-playthrough choice between two Mold-based abilities after The Collective. Abilities spend melee-restored Power, Artifacts can be swapped to suit a build or environment, and Remedy says abilities can be respecced quite freely. The final number of powers, Talent-tree layout, costs, and every unlock source remain unrevealed.

Combat Abilities are earned from Resonant bosses, while Talents and Artifacts shape how those powers fit a build. The names below describe demonstrated behavior, not a complete launch list or a ranking.

Ignite

Ignite added fire damage to Dylan's attacks in the Gamescom demonstration. It also applied a stacking Burning status that gradually damaged Falter. Remedy used it against Mold enemies, which the demo identified as vulnerable to fire.

Its Power cost, duration, stack cap, damage value, whether every attack type benefits, and interactions with other enemy families are not public. “Good against Mold” is demonstrated context, not permission to claim a universal best Ability.

Push

Push is a demonstrated paranatural Ability that shoves enemies away. Its practical role is immediate space control: it can interrupt close pressure, create a safer angle, or set up the next melee sequence. The public demo does not provide final range, cooldown, cost, knockdown rules, or boss resistance data.

Push should therefore be evaluated alongside the equipped Aberrant forms and the encounter. Moving a target away is not always beneficial if a build needs continuous close-range hits to restore Power.

Perfect Dodge

Perfect Dodge is a Talent, not a Combat Ability. A well-timed Dodge briefly slows time and boosts Dylan's damage. It is the named modifier that gives the dodge-only defensive system a high-skill offensive payoff.

Remedy said it can be found relatively early, but did not publish its branch, point cost, duration, or exact timing. See the Combat guide for why the absence of block and parry makes this timing tool important.

The Collective's Mold ability choice

The Gamescom hands-off presentation described an encounter with The Collective, a Mold boss formed from huge fused faces. After the fight, Dylan was shown choosing between two Mold-based abilities: channeling Mold through his arm to attack, or causing a Mold tentacle to emerge from the ground and attack independently.

Only one of those two options can be selected in that playthrough. The same report says existing powers carry into New Game Plus, so the first choice is retained when beginning the next run. The final ability names, Power costs, damage types, exact unlock screen, and whether the second choice is available through a specific rematch flow are not yet public. See the Resonants guide for the boss-evidence boundary.

Artifacts and respecs

Artifacts are not permanently tied to one loadout. Makkonen said they can be switched at any time, letting players adapt a build to its immediate environment. In the Gamescom demo, an Artifact was swapped for one that increased damage and Falter while Dylan was inside a Gravity Anomaly.

Remedy also said abilities can be respecced quite freely. That confirms reversibility, but not an exact menu flow, currency cost, restrictions, or whether every Talent and Artifact choice follows the same rule. A first playthrough still cannot unlock everything, so experimentation does not remove all meaningful build decisions.

Build around the whole loop

The useful question is not which name has the largest isolated number. Ask whether the Ability helps the selected forms build Power, drive Falter, create an execution, or exploit the temporary damage window afterwards. Ignite can support sustained pressure; Push can manage space; Perfect Dodge rewards timing; an environment-specific Artifact can make one arena favor a different setup.
