Traversal Abilities are found at Faults, not awarded by Resonant bosses. If a street, roof or gap seems impossible to cross, check which Fault you have visited before looking for a combat upgrade. The September 23 Epic Games Store guide reports five named movement powers across three zones.

AbilityReported sourceWhat it lets Dylan doWhen to check for it
Double-JumpDowntown Fault during OrientationJump a second time in the airWhen a ledge is just beyond one jump
ElevateDowntown Fault during OrientationFloat and glideWhen crossing a longer open gap or controlling a descent
RushDowntown Fault during OrientationMove quickly and clear negative status effectsWhen a route demands speed or a harmful status interrupts movement
ShiftWest Incursion Zone FaultChange orientation around gravity-bent streets and surfacesWhen the apparent route continues up a wall or sideways
ReachEvacuation Zone FaultLatch onto a marked spherical point and pull across a gapWhen a visible anchor lies beyond normal jump range

Epic groups Double-Jump, Elevate and Rush with the Orientation Fault; it does not provide a precise room-by-room sequence for each unlock. It identifies the Fault in West Incursion Zone for Shift and the Fault in Evacuation Zone for Reach. The exact entrance, mission prerequisites and controller prompts can vary by platform and are not supplied in that article.

Stuck at a gravity wall? Look for Shift

Shift changes Dylan's orientation in spaces where the ground seems to bend vertically or sideways. Before assuming a wall is out of bounds, inspect whether the environment presents a continuous path on a different plane. The useful decision is which surface to treat as the route, rather than trying to make a longer standard jump. This is route-reading advice derived from the reported effect, not a step-by-step solution to a specific puzzle.

Stuck at an open gap? Look for Reach

Reach works like a grappling hook, but the Epic guide describes a specific spherical anchor point on a surface. Scan the far side for that point and use the prompt when it appears; ordinary walls are not established as valid targets. If no anchor is visible, verify that you have acquired Reach from the Evacuation Zone Fault before trying to cross by repeated jumps.

How Rush differs from combat abilities

Rush is useful for travel and also clears negative status effects. The source does not list which effects can be removed or whether the cleanse has a cooldown. It should not be confused with Push, a Combat Ability reward from The Dancer. A single word can point to a different progression track: Fault for Rush, Resonant for Push.

Do these abilities carry into New Game Plus?

No. Remedy says traversal powers reset in New Game Plus because they are tied to story progression and world access. Combat Abilities and Aberrant upgrades carry over. Plan to revisit the relevant Faults even if the second run starts with a mature combat build.

Dash loses momentum when using Elevate

Hotfix 1.4.1 repairs Dash momentum being lost while using Elevate. If a familiar crossing suddenly fails on 1.4.0, install the latest hotfix before looking for a different Fault or changing your movement setup. Fully relaunch and retry a route you previously crossed with the same abilities. This check helps separate the named movement regression from a route that requires an ability you have not unlocked.

Checked October 10, 2026 against Remedy's 1.4.1 announcement. The announcement labels the interaction with Elevate in its heading and mentions Surge in the detailed explanation; the actionable issue is lost Dash momentum. See the hotfix summary and current update timeline.

Rush tutorial and route fixes in 1.4.0

The new Rush tutorial explicitly explains status-effect removal; it is a clarification of an existing use. The notes do not supply a complete removable-effect list or a cleanse cooldown. Underpass Fault path lighting is fixed in 1.4.0; do not treat its old missing-light blocker as an intended traversal requirement. October 2, 2026 update: Remedy's released 1.4.0 notes confirm these changes. See all relevant fixes.

Sources and verification

Checked on September 24, 2026 against the Epic Games Store abilities guide for names, Fault zones and effects; Remedy's New Game Plus article for the reset rule; and PlayStation's hands-on report for independently observed early double-jump, levitation and dash-like movement. Exact Fault entrances and button prompts await public-build verification.
