New Game++ is available in CONTROL Resonant Update 1.4.0, released October 1, 2026. You can continue into a third run and further NG+ runs without erasing accumulated progression. The launch version's one-NG+-replay limit is historical. Remedy's released notes confirm unlimited runs.

Can I play a third run now?

Yes, after completing the preceding campaign and installing the update. The feature arrived in 1.4.0; install the current 1.4.2 hotfix before attempting the next cycle. Load your completed save and inspect the replay and transfer prompts; the notes confirm repeatability but do not document every button or conversion prompt for an older completed NG+ save.

QuestionAnswer checked October 2, 2026
Is New Game++ available?Yes, released October 1 in 1.4.0.
How many replay cycles are allowed?Unlimited.
Do I need to erase accumulated progress? No; the NG+ loop can continue.
Are later-cycle exclusive rewards or extra scaling confirmed? Not specified in these notes.

What carries over?

The established NG+ rules preserve Aberrant upgrades, health and combat-resource improvements, Combat Abilities, Talents and Artifacts. Traversal Abilities reset because they control story and world access. These rules come from Remedy's NG+ explanation.

The 1.4.0 notes add the unlimited loop without publishing a complete transfer list for every later cycle. Inspect the transition screen for inventory, map and quest state. Additional Talents, alternate boss powers and the fourth Artifact slot are existing NG+ features; the patch does not announce a fifth slot or a new campaign.

Seven save slots and preparing another run

The main menu now has seven save slots, increased from five. Remedy says original-run and NG+ saves occupy separate save folders available through the main menu's Load Game option. Seven slots are a save-management limit, not a seven-run limit.

  1. Complete the campaign you intend to continue from and install the latest hotfix, 1.4.2 as checked October 10, 2026.
  2. Keep the completed save available. If this is the original run, check the missing dog-quest Artifact before entering NG+; the retroactive reward method excludes saves that have already entered NG+.
  3. Review your build, boss reward choices and transfer summary before starting.
  4. Plan to regain traversal powers through story progression. The notes also adjust NG+ rewards to make maxing every Zone easier, without publishing a complete reward table.

Is NG++ a DLC or separate story?

Remedy released it as part of the replay-system update. These notes do not announce a paid story expansion, third-run-only boss or new story chapter. Photo Mode remains on the roadmap for November.

Continue from a completed save

Start from the main menu → Load Game and select the completed run you intend to continue. Original and NG+ runs use separate save folders, so confirm the loaded campaign and build before choosing another replay. The patch documents that separation and seven save slots; it does not document an automatic old-save conversion button.

What you seeNext step
Correct completed campaign, replay option availableReview the transfer summary before confirming the next run.
The wrong build or an earlier campaignReturn to Load Game and check the other save folders.
Completed NG+ on an older installed versionInstall the current hotfix, reload that save and inspect the replay prompt.
No replay option after updating and loading the right completed saveKeep the save and send the version and completion state to Remedy support; do not erase progress to diagnose it.

Before starting, resolve any unfinished upgrade shopping with the material and Vendor workflow. Use the existing NG+ transfer rules as the baseline; this page does not infer infinite save slots or additional Artifact slots from unlimited runs.

Checked October 2, 2026 against Remedy's October 1 patch notes, September replay-system plan, and official NG+ transfer explanation. Exact older-save conversion prompts and later-cycle scaling await a documented public-build check. See the 1.4.0 fixes for other changes.
