How to Reach Unknown Zone from the Oldest House
Follow the reported Roof Access and Probe Relay route into Unknown Zone, with Shift and Reach prerequisites and the combat changes in 1.4.0.
On this page+
The reported entrance to Unknown Zone starts at the Oldest House rooftop during Sever the Hedron Links. Use the elevator’s Roof Access, then place the two Probe Relays before crossing. This is an attributed route from ShowGamer, corroborated by All Things How; it has not been personally replayed on 1.4.0. Spoilers: late-story area and mission names.
Before going to the rooftop
The route sources place this after The Hedron Link. Check the active story objective and bring Shift and Reach; their functions and unlock zones are documented in the traversal guide. If Roof Access is unavailable, check story progress before searching for a street-level entrance.
Rooftop route
- Enter the Oldest House and find the upper-lobby elevator. Select Roof Access.
- Look left after exiting for the research balloon. Use Shift to reach it, release its cargo and break it open for two Probe Relays.
- Place the first relay in the nearby red circle.
- Carry the second upward using Shift and Reach, following the minimap’s radio marker to its placement point.
These landmarks are reported by ShowGamer. Do not substitute real-world building geography for the quest markers.
Cross into the Unknown
After both relays are placed, use Reach to access the floating disk and jump toward a building in the cityscape below. All Things How also reports an Oldest House Rooftop fast-travel door to the left of the elevator exit; activate it when available to simplify the return trip. Continue Pope’s Research and open travel points as you reach them. This page covers entry, not every relay, collectible or Hedron fight.
What changed in 1.4.0?
Remedy's October 1 notes reduce Unknown Zone’s overall combat and intensity by about 10%–15% and improve rooftop signposting. The route reports predate that patch, so use current markers rather than relying on an old enemy count. No new relay order or altered Shift/Reach input sequence is specified in those notes.
If the route does not match your save
| What is missing? | Check first |
|---|---|
| Roof Access | Active mission and preceding story objective |
| Upper relay placement | Radio marker, Shift orientation and Reach anchors |
| A fight shown in an old video | Installed version; 1.4.0 reduces combat |
| A material for a planned upgrade | Vendor/material guide |
If progress remains blocked, record the quest step and installed version for Remedy support.
