CONTROL Resonant Xbox Performance Mode

CONTROL Resonant will offer Xbox Series X a 60 FPS Performance Mode and a separate Quality Mode. Remedy has not published the resolution, Quality Mode frame-rate target, upscaling method, ray-tracing settings, storage size, or a separate Xbox Series S performance specification. The public confirmation supports a mode choice, not a precise visual-performance comparison.

The game is also announced for Xbox Series X|S with Xbox Play Anywhere. That ownership feature does not define graphics modes or guarantee an identical Series S target.

The digital Xbox release remains September 24, 2026. The physical Xbox edition follows on October 15; because Series S has no disc drive, a physical copy is relevant only to Series X hardware.

What is confirmed on Xbox Series X?

In the Gamescom follow-up interview, Arhi Makkonen confirmed the standard Quality/Performance arrangement and specified 60 FPS in Performance Mode. The response followed a question about console performance and lets players choose between the two modes.

The interview does not disclose the Quality Mode frame-rate target, so it should not be reported as 30 FPS. It also does not state resolution, dynamic-resolution range, reconstruction technique, ray tracing, VRR behavior, or the settings that differ between the modes.

What about Xbox Series S?

CONTROL Resonant is officially announced for Xbox Series X|S, but the public Gamescom performance discussion does not publish a Series S-specific frame-rate or resolution target. Do not assume the Series X setting list applies unchanged to Series S until Remedy or the Xbox store specifies it, or launch testing documents it.

This is particularly important when comparing a fixed 60-FPS target with image quality: a shared mode name can still use different resolutions or settings on different console hardware.

Play Anywhere is separate

Xbox Play Anywhere lets an eligible digital Xbox purchase work across Xbox console, Xbox on PC, and supported Windows handhelds through the Xbox ecosystem, with eligible saves, add-ons, and achievements following the account. It is not a claim of Xbox Game Pass availability, cloud streaming, cross-save with PlayStation or Steam, or identical performance on every device.

Match a physical copy to the console: Series S has no disc drive. Store region, edition, and entitlement rules remain separate from performance modes.

What still needs verification

The exact modes on Series S, all resolutions, Quality Mode FPS, stability, HDR/VRR behavior, install size, preload timing, controller features, and visual-setting differences are unpublished. This page will report them only with a game version, hardware model, output settings, and replicable test location.
