CONTROL Resonant's main story takes approximately 25–35 hours, according to Remedy Entertainment. Thomas Puha gave that range in an official PlayStation Blog feature published September 15, 2026. Completionists have substantially more to do, but Remedy did not provide a specific completion time in that announcement. This is a developer estimate, not an average of measured player saves.

An earlier interview with lead gameplay designer Sergey Mohov described roughly 30 hours for the core experience and floated around 50 hours for a completion-focused run. The new 25–35-hour story range is Remedy's clearer, more recent official statement. Do not treat the earlier 50-hour figure as a guaranteed 100% completion time or add it to the official range.

What is included in the 25–35 hours?

Puha calls this the main story, also known as Dylan's Journey. The article does not define whether the figure includes cutscenes, failed attempts, natural detours, or optional quests picked up along the way. Combat difficulty, exploration habits, and how much time you spend testing builds can move an individual save outside the range.

On PS5, PlayStation Activities can help track main-quest progress. Remedy had described Game Help as a later feature; check current console availability rather than assuming it is active. Neither feature is a published estimate for the time remaining on a particular save.

What adds time beyond the story?

Optional World Quests and Manhattan exploration, bounties, collectibles, and experimentation with Aberrant forms, Combat Abilities, Talents, and Artifacts can extend a first run. The Gap lets players enter a build-testing and crafting space at will, so a player who refines multiple setups may spend longer than someone who follows only the main objectives.

The builds guide explains the major systems. The New Game Plus guide covers carried upgrades, additional Talent nodes, a fourth Artifact slot, and alternate boss rewards. Remedy has not assigned an hour count to any of these activities or published a full quest and collectible total.

Does New Game Plus count?

No separate New Game Plus duration was included in the September 15 estimate. The stated 25–35 hours concerns the main story, while NG+ is a later playthrough with retained combat progression and traversal abilities that must be reacquired. Players pursuing every build option may need another run, but a fixed extra-hour estimate would be speculative.

How should you plan your time?

Use 25–35 hours as the official starting range for a story-focused first playthrough. Leave additional time if you want World Quests, collectibles, thorough exploration, or build experiments; there is no current official figure for that total. This page does not publish a community average because it has not checked a comparable sample of completed saves.

Sources and verification

Estimate rechecked on October 1, 2026 using Thomas Puha's official PlayStation Blog article published September 15 for the 25–35-hour main-story range and completionist caveat. The older 30/50-hour context comes from TechRadar's interview with Sergey Mohov; replay features come from Remedy's New Game Plus article. No community playtime average is claimed here without a documented sample.
